Social Network for Pakistani

Why KatiMati? Why a network for Pakistan?

The answer of this question is obvious, while most of us are here due to a blanket ban by PTA on a popular social networking website, there is much more to this topic. Take me for example, at the moment I am not in Pakistan, even if I am, I am too much of a techie that I would immediately have found a work-around like BBC and other western news networks immediately started suggesting that people will. But what you see after a poll on popular Pakistani website propakistani.com? 73% do not want that social network again in their lives. This is on principle, it is not a political ban.

Yes we all have buddies on it, our pictures and that was too much of a fun but our Prophet (SAW) is by no doubt greater than anything, even above our families, even above ourselves and when you take that as a freedom of speech and you ban other groups which are against another religion for propagating hate speech? Where is your freedom of speech then?

Why a social network and why Pakistan?

A social network on this scale is a very expensive operation to run at the first place rather something of profit. Popular social networks like Facebook and Twitter are still not in profit. They take a lot of effort to be built but more effort is required to run them, they eat up a lot of resources. Take KatiMati, for the first 4 days, with just 100 users, it eaten up 1.6Gigs of bandwidth and here we are not counting the strain on server. As it will grow inshAllah we would get more resources but the benefit for us is really that we know the means of getting financial help to run it. It is not just for Pakistani people, this is just for the start as we target a niche market, this website would be for Muslims all around the world as we lead them through technological advancement too, so that no one can play with other emotions again. We spread the message of freedom of speech, respect for privacy and every what not terms west has invented but we don't allow anyone to offend anyone else by directly persuading a attack on their faith and their emotions by any means and by using any words.

Here are some success stories which originated from my country and which made me proud:

1- Mixit (a trading platform which is in use on the floor of New York stock exchange and facilitates the trade of billions of dollars daily.)
2- Netsol (37 million a year turnover, listed in NASDAQ and KSE)
3- TRG (This company owns more than 500 companies in USA and all of their business process management (BPO) is being done in Pakistan.)
4- Cricket Revolution (Lahore based cricket game available world-wide, a friend of mine work in there and they spent 2 years making this game and it is a success)

Why not our own social network then?

As said earlier, it takes a lot of investment and resources to be built and run but the time is here that Pakistan should really come up with its own brands and own flagship websites which do not necessarily target local market but international as well.

The aim is to take at least 100 thousand people for the start, (Facebook has 3.3 million users from Pakistan, all of them young and college/university educated) and then from there onwards we march through to other communities.

Salman Habib
really got me worried when he proposed this network website as I made a social network on the same domain 4 years ago, I knew what it takes but after few days, the whole fear has really sinked-in, I am every bit into this project, I know a pay day from here will be years away but until then my love for my country and religion will keep me going!

And there is only thing I want to say to all users on KatiMati, we are here and we are here for good! and we would need your help to promote this network. Get your buddies over here, there is a feedback group, you can ask for features, report bugs and I promise you, this is just the first hint of things you are experiencing, there is a lot more up in my head, if you all are with me, together we will make this website more fun and more usable than any other social network and that exactly is our aim!

PTA will take measure when we will take measure and happy today this site is at-least in our office blocked after voting from all staff .

Hopefully one day facebook will be obsolete from the Cyber world the way many famous community disappeared even they were never such problematic to any ideology or religion.

Our Thinking and action really matters alot in all walks of life and we should think before acting upon any idea.

One day we will re-gain all we lost if we only think all intellectual belongs to us or its made for us ....
