Pakistan Media Backed by USAID a Disaster

Pakistan Electronic Media Backed by USAID/Sates/America/lobbies/Agencies is a disaster. So review it what you are watching all day on Media. So better to speak where you have the liberty to speak its Internet and Social Media. Though its also limited but not in their hands all times. So share and do speak what you have and do not be a puppet and dummy and a machine life. Speak out and spread the Truth. So how they controlled West and their own counties and people then why not Pakistan. We all know but we do not speak is the level of Emaan we have left with. Its never ending debate but still decide where you want to be. And we are accountable of our action even what we share all day thats all they want us to do eat/wear/share/speak/like/dislike/hangout/Family/Events/Traditions/Culture/Education and a lot. Represent us with our colors and our colors can never be place we live but Faith we have. Islam.

If we talk about society and culture of Pakistan and specially people on media electronic media all are going against Islam Teaching Honestly. Though people may feel offended but I m part of this culture too. Like the way we dress up and we represent our culture through media and normal life . Israel follow what their Faith teach them but unfortunately we do not. We are far away from teaching and commandments of Islam. We may kiss sometimes Quran but we will not act on it. We fear from people and world but we do not fear from Allah Almighty. We are by born Muslim but not by faith and selection. Our names are Muslim but our actions are far away. Anyways I just wana write so do not get offended whatever all believes.  Media is home of falsehood and all channels propagating it under a propaganda. Why Muslims are so simple they can never understand any thing. and following a rejected life style blindly either of East or west. Islam is code of conduct and a Rule of Allah Almighty to follow. Kindly share positive and workout to propagate good and share positive.

And how its working in world: This way as Japan is speaking to world the lobbies and professional lairs and trained machines called professionals even part of media any way singers, showbiz, professional, products, models and ICONs and Hallmarks all are part of this dilemma and discrepancy of falsehood.

Deceptive Media

Media is just like a profession and just like anything that have both aspect and use good or bad. Media is used for awareness purposes or education and numerous ways to help humanity.

Its either electronic, print or social media, in all ways its used for betterment of societies and people.
But we need to point and cover its aspects and impact on our society.

Its a simple matter of understanding as things are not good or bad but there use and how they being used made them good or bad. Deceptive media I called because its make good a bad and bad a good. If you raise your finger against media you gonna be consider bad. Its not that as all is going bad around but convergence or focus of our media to people who are using it as their TOOL to spread their own perspective. In Pakistan or in States or Middle east media is being used for both good and bad. but the massive is used for bad purpose.

If we talk about society and culture of Pakistan/Islam. We will see a very different picture than actual on media especially Pakistan or Muslim World. And what going on and what media showing and how many people are working to make it look this way like people behind this media. But question how long and how deceptive and why we should and why we should not get deceive from it.
And this Media will cover all aspects either its print, social or electronic Media.

People on media/electronic media are going against Islam Teaching and this percentage is above 95% and you can say majority of it. Though people may feel offended but I m part of this culture too. Like the way we dress up and we represent our culture through media and normal life. We are far away from teaching and commandments of Religion and Faith we follow. We may kiss Holy Quran/Books/Scripture but we will not act on it. The one we like or suites as will be followed and remaining we wont. Even we will never search out the truth behind of a matter.
We may Fear from People and World but we do not Fear from Allah/God Almighty. We are by born Muslim but not by Faith of selection and faith of the Right. Our names are Muslim but our actions are far away. Anyways I just wanna write so do not get offended with believes you have.

Like whats going on and whats showing are all deception of times. Its not today but always in past and will remain in future. Look right and wrong and light and dark has always there. Truth will always prevail like light and dark has an end even how long it will remain and how dark it is.

This is a picture showing a exact picture of the situation going on.

I know if my country is doing this and I will feel offended. So its nothing I am doing wrong by sharing or disclosing a truth. If an evil is propagating in my land I will and I should write about it and will share to masses and let the truth speak to the world. Even people the people living on these countries do not know whats going on and they also shout/protest but still the Dark seems powerful and prevailing but not at all. A little light break its magic and there is no more darkness so starting it with high spirit.

Who do and controls censor board in states or similarly in other countries and who is trying to look who is doing what ?
Government and systems engages us and keep us to household and domestic chores and our personal matters and business so why not see the other many aspects which they are hiding and they make it look their perfect system is running from old ages and still the same. Its not that I am throwing garbage on them but this is what that going on.

Have look to this movies:

Pardon for the immoral and nude pic of title but just have watch this movie to know who is censor board of this Media or Movies industry and whats happening and how and who is doing this all.

The Media has not only to show the things to world but like a doctor we need to give a remedy for the victim/patient.

All looking but morally dead and working as an employee not being a human being. like showing a person killed and injured but do not do the right job. I am not saying all are same but majority.

Note:This piece of writing is not for offending and raising conflicts but a voice to know the truth.

Still Media is free as this link is claiming the world is free:

"Look they are talking about Freedom/Privacy/Rights and about information and they can live the way want in states even and they talking about Freedom of Speech and Freedom of choice and Freedom of Drones :) But Above all they want people to live their way and freedoms definition as they define. Like Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg also said

*We(They) are the norms of world and we will decide/define norm to world*
Even people living and their own people can not live without this curse and the have to be part of the system. They can never Isolate them from this Evil Systems for Centuries but Only The Faith can work here for them.

So how to walk against the wind majority will walk beside the wind. Choice is always our and we may not always claim as the Majority was doing this so we should do the same. Consider the light and dark and you know the path. And remember light will make your inner satisfy and dark will never as its Hollow and you will be blessed with emptiness.

The Message you will always get from your unconscious/conscious/surrounding will always be wake-up and we always can not hideout and ignore it.But to walk and struggle for truth and remember we are always not on right side though we always and devil always make us understand we are righteous and will be blessed.

LETTER INTRODUCTIONThe method of teaching widely used in schools nowadays is the Phonetic
Method i.e teaching the sound of the letter and not the name of the letter.
Makhraj (Makharij) is the place in the mouth from where the sound of the
letter must come to give the correct pronunciation – in most cases, where the
tongue should be placed.
There are 3 short vowels in the Arabic alphabet called ‘Haraka’. They are
‘Fatha’, ‘Kasra’ and ‘Dhamma’.
The first few exercises show the letters with fatha. Fatha should not be
pronounced as the ‘aa’ sound in Africa or Far. It is a short vowel whose sound
is ‘U’ as it sounds in Umbrella and Under or ‘A’ as in Anwer and Asgher.
Introduce one letter at a time. Point to the letter and say the sound making
sure the child pronounces it correctly after you. Show the student the position
of the tongue.
Always say the sounds clearly pointing out the similar sounding letters and
making sure that the student can recognize the difference when they are heard
or pronounced.
For students who do not speak Arabic, it is always better to use examples of
words that they are familiar with in their own language.

Quran Search Engine

Open the heart of Islam that is Word Of God: Holy Quran to people and let them talk to God

As we know there are many Quran Search Engines available on the internet, but all of them have very limited search capabilities. search-the-quran.com is based on cutting edge search technology and offers the following unique features:
  • Search multi-word phrases that spread across more than one verse as opposed to the single verse search offered by all other Quran Search Engines. Examples: "Roman Victory", "War on Usury".
  • Synonym Search: so you don't have to know the exact words used in the translations. For example, to search for Jesus in the Quran you can use any of these variations: "Jesus", "Christ", "Messiah", "Isa".
  • Morphological Search: allows finding different variations of the word. For example, searching for "intention" will find verses using words like intends, intending, intention, intentionally, etc.
  • Exclusion: to search for verses that don't contain certain words> For example to find verses that talk about charity without mentioning Prayer use the NOT or - symbol: "Charity NOT Prayer", "Charity -Prayer".
  • "Did you Mean" suggestions for misspellings.

How to make Wudhu/Ablution correctly

How to perform Wudhu ( Ablution ). Required for performing Salah or reading the Holy Qur'an Book - Instructions in English.

O you who believe! When you intend to offer As-Salat (the prayer), wash your faces and your hands (forearms) up to the elbows, rub (by passing wet hands over) your heads, and (wash) your feet up to ankles. If you are in a state of Janaba (i.e. had a sexual discharge), purify yourself (bathe your whole body). But if you are ill or on a journey or any of you comes from answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (i.e. sexual intercourse) and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands. Allah does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to purify you, and to complete His Favour on you that you may be thankful.

How to offer Salat/Prayer/Namaz

In this post you will find how to offer prayer and what are the meanings of Salat/Namaz/Prayer.

This is a very nice STEP-BY-STEP prayer guide to teach new Muslims the correct w...ay of prayer :)!!! It is a really nice and made easy animation :)!!! This video is for TWO Rakaats... this is only applicable in Fajr prayer and the other 2 Rakaat prayers... In prayers which are 3 or 4 Rakaats you should return back again to the upright position from the sitting position AFTER THE WORDS WHERE YOU SAY: "Ash'hadu An La ilaha Illa Allah wa Ash'hadu Anna Muhammadan Rassol Allah"(the words which you pointed your finger in :)!!! Then in the 1 or 2 remaining Rakaats you pray with Surah Fatihah ONLY without the short Surah and then continue and finish the prayer as it was stated here :)!!!

Russia continues to support the Regime

Russia continues to support the regime: Russia warned that it would not cooperate with European Union sanctions requiring EU governments to search vessels suspected of carrying weapons into Syria, a defiant stance that is likely to spark anger in the West and a clear indication that Russia shall continue to ship arms to the Syrian regime.
The regime escalates the scale of violence with fighter jets and the threat of using chemical weapons: The Syrian regime shifted its tactics this week when it began using MIG fighter jets on civilian areas and threatened to use chemical weapons against any potential foreign military intervention. This shift indicates the regime’s determination that it must use all weapons at its disposal to wipe out the rebels, who continue to gain ground, hold territory and seize key border crossings. The escalation of the fighting is expected to lead to more damage and casualties.

Russia and China must pay a price for helping Assad... The world will see

They are fighting to capture resources either OIL or any thing. They cant see human killing and atrocities done for the name of resources or for the name of peace any where on earth. They may wage war on any territory without any trouble and name it anything they want. Nuclear/World Powers are playing as a stronger play with weaker. But above all Allah is Best Planner of all and human cant run away once their fate is decided. And obviously one has to pay the wages of killing on earth of any human being belong to any religion and living on any standard of life.

Every one stands on others back and fulfilling/achieving his own aim/goals strategic/military/economic like China/States/Russia were and still behind Pakistan. and still working against many Muslim and non-Muslim countries. Still its seems a war of resources but above 95% target is Muslims and still they call us Berbers/terrorist/fundamentalist.

Honestly speaking don't bother to look at media we need to start for us. you can sit on Google and in an hour you will find the owners of all media channels and that will make you clear why they should work for our cause are we paying them or they will do all volunteer for us.

This is whats happening in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Burma, Kashmir, Syria etc and the world is just looking away.
Do you know what is the cheapest thing in this world today? Yes it
So this massacre done everywhere in world in all times. You need to have a look on free media which honestly do not exist. Bosnia/Kashmir/Iraq/Pakistan/Afghanistan etc there is a huge list of countries and 100% target was and is Muslims. Either Europe/USA or Whatever country. People cant see because they do not let them see what evil they are doing on earth on different venues and different peoples. and Claiming the are safeguards and so called Noble countries and people. Still the victim is claimed as Berber/terrorist/fundamentalist. Who cares. But there comes a time when the public and people who participated have to pay for these collective sins and they they will speak and scream to the world like today they did nothing but they are part of this. because may be one is not doing that but one may be a silent observer.
So all we can do is to follow the straight path and have a clear and simple vision and Faith. Allah Almighty is Planner of all and above all Plans human do.

If we kept silent and don't protest on our public on day this blood will belong to someone else or my land or anyone else land .. Thing is: the only thing matter is we should take action  or at least speak out or least of least consider its a bad going ...

But keep in mind we have to look around and other than sharing the atrocities and massacre done to any human being, we need to keep in loop and keep sharing the good work done by any Muslim or any human being for humanity or betterment of humanity. Once we are individually on right track then collectively we will just need to hold hands and keep in one direction that lead us to correct path and to the heavens. Because now-a-days there is a thought and misconception that it does not matters what i do because its something personal but actually it always matters and reflects being a nation. so start from us and home.

Muslims can be so much stronger than this if they opened their eyes to the truth, when they start paying more attention to education, when they realize just how strong we are united. It all starts from home. We should still keep the passion for helping alive by doing all we can. The rest is up to Allah who is observing and testing everyone.
The only thing we can see in history and past, We do not remember what bad happened to us yesterday/Past, We forgot all happened to us other day. You can see many nationalist they remember and keep it in memory what happened in past and that will never happens in the future or can damage their next generation. so the sacrifice in past just not gone in vain. Like Pakistan and pure/clean land was made for Muslims but what happened or what we did, I think nothing seriously/honestly. Being A person we can see what we do all day or next 5 minutes and how quickly we forgot all and do what are doing like blind/deaf/dumb.
We feel pain that's why we are all here and shouting/speaking for Peace and Justice for People who brutally  murder for no reason. You know this is the difference between a living and dead person. Living can speak and shout whereas the dead one cant. So live like living people and fight back for those who are dead so one day we should not get dead this way by a suppressor.

Look closer . . . . see .. .. . .. .... . ME!!

"When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.

Later, when the nurses were going through his meager possessions, They found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.

One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem.

And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet. "

Cranky Old Man

What do you see nurses? . . .. . .What do you see?
What are you thinking .. . when you're looking at me?
A cranky old man, . . . . . .not very wise,
Uncertain of habit .. . . . . . . .. with faraway eyes?
Who dribbles his food .. . ... . . and makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice . .'I do wish you'd try!'
Who seems not to notice . . .the things that you do.
And forever is losing . . . . . .. . . A sock or shoe?
Who, resisting or not . . . ... lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding . . . .The long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking?. .Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse .you're not looking at me.
I'll tell you who I am . . . . .. As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding, .. . . . as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of Ten . .with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters .. . . .. . who love one another
A young boy of Sixteen . . . .. with wings on his feet
Dreaming that soon now . . .. . . a lover he'll meet.
A groom soon at Twenty . . . ..my heart gives a leap.
Remembering, the vows .. .. .that I promised to keep.
At Twenty-Five, now . . . . .I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide . . . And a secure happy home.
A man of Thirty . .. . . . . My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other . . .. With ties that should last.
At Forty, my young sons .. .have grown and are gone,
But my woman is beside me . . to see I don't mourn.
At Fifty, once more, .. ...Babies play 'round my knee,
Again, we know children . . . . My loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me . . . . My wife is now dead.
I look at the future ... . . . . I shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing .. . . young of their own.
And I think of the years . . . And the love that I've known.
I'm now an old man . . . . . . .. and nature is cruel.
It's jest to make old age . . . . . . . look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles .. .. . grace and vigour, depart.
There is now a stone . . . where I once had a heart.
But inside this old carcass . A young man still dwells,
And now and again . . . . . my battered heart swells
I remember the joys . . . . .. . I remember the pain.
And I'm loving and living . . . . . . . life over again.
I think of the years, all too few . . .. gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact . . . that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people .. . . . .. . . open and see.
Not a cranky old man .
Look closer . . . . see .. .. . .. .... . ME!!

I am not afraid to stand alone. Allah is by my side

I am not afraid to stand alone. Allah is by my side
I am not afraid to stand alone. Gonna keep my head up high
My faith in my religion now will never bend
So I called to my Lord for the power
For the strength every day, every hour…

Its not the weapon we fight with its our will and faith we have that will make us win or lose. whatever you invent but remember we fight with a passion and for that passion a correct ideology required behind otherwise we can not impose something on any heart/mind/soul. whatever mechanism we invent or apply it will be in vain. Once one suppress you in street by anyway you can love him for decades so if you are dong something you are willingly doing that and honestly you will pay for that with same force and opposite reaction.

Yes it is the international media who is washing brains of our innocent non-Muslim friends against Islam

Yes it is the international media who is washing brains of our innocent non-Muslim friends against Islam

note: this picture is no way is posted to attack on Christians but share the bitter reality of this world!!

It is sad to witness how the media deal with Muslim-related issues, as the  Islamic Congress indicated in its second annual "Anti-Islam in the Media" study.

Negative words are always used to describe them: terrorists, fundamentalists, fanatics.
You rarely hear these terms associated with any group other than Muslims. You will not hear the phrase Hindu fanatics, for instance, or Jewish terrorists - yet in each group there are bad people.
If a suspect of a crime is a Muslim, the media take the opportunity to bombard Muslims with all kinds of accusations. But when the suspect is not a Muslim, even if he or she belongs to a religious denomination, the action is associated only with the person and not the entire group to which he or she belongs.
Timothy McVeigh commited a horroific terrorist act on April 19, 1995, by blowing up a federal building in Oklahoma City, but this act was associated only with him. Why then do the media fail to use the same judgment when a suspect is a Muslim? Does that suspect represent all Muslims on the planet?
In Palestine on Feb. 25, 1994, a New York physician, Dr Baruch Goldstein, who belonged to a religious extremist group, opened fire on people praying at a Hebron mosque. He massacred 29 and injured many before he was killed. The crime was associated only with him and not the entire group to which he belonged. If he was a Muslim, the case would have been different. Is this fair judgment from the media or a double standard?
Associating an entire group with the actions of some of its members is unfair and unacceptable. In each group in society, there are good and bad people. The media should be cautious when playing with words because such words could create hatred among peoples.
Islam, is a religions, calls for peace and love and is against terrorism and violence.
Well no one can ever win something on negative media tactics as a neutral person can search out the truth and fact.

When the Moors (Muslims) Ruled Europe: Documentary (full)

Like this is also history and also on media what Muslim was and what still they are. No matter what they claim and demonstrate on electronic media rest of the day but truth can never be folded and it has to disclose to the person with wisdom and in search of truth.
Good and bad will remain there else how one gonna distinguish the difference between
Cold and hot will remain there else how one gonna distinguish the difference between
Day and Night will remain there else how one gonna distinguish the difference between
Virtue and Evil will remain there else how one gonna distinguish the difference between
Life and Death will remain there else how one gonna distinguish the difference between
Right and wrong will remain there else how one gonna distinguish the difference between

All religions preach this and these are Rule for mankind and sent by Allah/God in Holy books/Scriptures.
This life is an examination for all humankind where so ever he live or breath under the sea on in skies but he has to pay what he did in this life. There will be consequences what all we do. Bottom line is that we need to protest honestly when something wrong on any level is going on and victim is who so ever and where so ever.

Being Muslim: We all are body and if we feel pain where so ever we will react being a body as that pain belongs to us and same we react for all humanity and mankind. and all religions preach and demonstrate to practice the same.

This is all life Journey and we have to look after people around near and far even this do not end to others. We have to look after ourselves with best like Time and health for us and other are vital and these two factors will decide our Fate.

Its neither the game nor it can be: the winner should not suppress the loser one should respect. One have good health should not be proud of that because it Almighty Allah who decide what for any being. same is the case with richer and poor one. Same is the case with the one who has knowledge and ignorant. Show some respect and have patience to everyone on floor :P or earth because we can not make the earth and living perfect but all we can do is to give it a try with harmony in each other.

For all I have a point and understanding and believe. Does a thing or work go in vain if you do it honestly? so point is whatever one is doing and where so ever he/she is all you need to do with honestly, one day you will rule the world its same like a a good student and bad because all we know bad can sustain and exist for long and light has to come and truth has to rule no matter what  the evil can produce and develops in what so ever part of world. Just remember because all building and nations can collapse in a single blow or multiple blows but a nation with faith and with base can never be eradicated from history . Just see that video share above. even they removed or tried hiding many things but still they can not hide OUR/MUSLIMS PAST and what a glory and past that was. So stay a little up with confidence and does not matter what they bring to us but we are like beads of the one string/rope that tight us with same faith and Allah Almighty .

People who commit those crimes don't even deserve to be called a Muslim, and the reason we're mad at the media is because it's giving people a false impression of Islam,e.g If a non-Muslim commits a crime, those guys just have an excuse to make him look like some mentally ill, social reject going through a hard time, but if a Muslim commits those crimes then you see 'MUSLIM' in the titles

we really need to eradicate the stain of being Terrorist  ?

This is not stain at all we should love it because you know what a looser do if he is a true soul he gonna lose fairly and proudly with elegance but an evil loser you tricks because he is not true in heart. In a class we do need to look people around we should focus what we have to do with understanding. the one calling bad names is showing what he has inside and we should not worry about that bring and come out what all you have inside.

Middle East Big Picture and terrorism

The United States Air base in Qatar, the third largest US air base

Its all random collection of information with sources mention below and its very clear and obvious who is doing who and what for what :)

U.S. Military Encirclement of Iran

"The radar site will complete the backbone of a system designed to defend US interests and allies such as Israel and European nations,” The Wall Street Journal quoted unnamed US officials as saying on Tuesday, July 17.
The Pentagon decided to set up the new radar station in Qatar since the country already hosts the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US air base in the region. More than 8,000 troops are stationed at Al Udeid and another US base in Qatar.
It is estimated that the construction of a pad for the radar, roads, barracks, and security measures at the site of the planned radar will cost $12.2 million. The US is also organizing its biggest minesweeping exercise ever in the Persian Gulf.
Washington recently expanded its military presence in the Persian Gulf, sending an unspecified number of F-22 stealth fighters and warships to the region.

American military commanders, especially Air Force officials, have long favored moving the air command post to Al Udeid from Saudi Arabia. United States commanders have chafed at restrictions the Saudis have placed on the American-led wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Senior Bush administration officials sought to emphasize that shifting the location of the command center should not be interpreted as an indication that the United States was ending its military relationship with Saudi Arabia, which has involved efforts to train Saudi forces, as well as the use of Saudi air bases.
''We are not leaving Saudi Arabia,'' a senior administration official said today.
While the talks are still under way, the shift of the air command center is the most noteworthy example of the emerging postwar American military structure in the region.
Maj. Gen. Victor E. Renuart, the Central Command's director of operations, said in an interview that having the command center in Al Udeid may be a good long-term strategic fit for the United States.
''Moving to Al Udeid is a sort of a natural progression for us as we look for a footprint that will be maintainable in the future,'' said General Renuart, who was also in Abu Dhabi. ''It's just starting the process. There's a convenience in the fact we're adjusting the size. You don't need a CAOC designed to fly 3,000 missions if you're only flying a few hundred.'' CAOC is the acronym for the Combat Air Operations Center the military uses to command its air operations.
The United States is not planning to abandon the sophisticated air command center it opened at the Prince Sultan base in Saudi Arabia less than two years ago. General Renuart said the air command center in Saudi Arabia would probably go into ''warm'' status. The military plans to use it to oversee military exercises, and it could be reactivated in a crisis.
''There will be folks who continue to maintain equipment,'' General Renuart added. ''It will allow us to come in and exercise.''

Al Udeid and other facilities in Qatar serve as logistics, command, and basing hubs for the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of operations, including Iraq and Afghanistan. In spite of serving as the host to a large U.S. military presence and supporting U.S. regional initiatives, Qatar has remained mostly secure from terrorist attacks. Terrorist statements indicate that energy infrastructure and U.S. military facilities in Qatar remain potential targets. U.S. officials have described Qatar’s counterterrorism cooperation since the September 11 attacks as significant; however, some observers have raised questions about possible support for Al Qaeda by some Qatari citizens, including members of Qatar’s large ruling family.

Australian Operations

As part of Australia's contribution to coalition forces in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, fourteen F/A-18 Hornet fighters from No. 75 Squadron RAAF were based at Al Udeid, along with two P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft and three C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft. During the early phases of the war, the Hornets flew long missions escorting and protecting coalition AWACS Early warning aircraft and tanker aircraft used for air-to-air refuelling. Later, when the threat to aircraft was reduced, the Hornets switched to the ground attack and combat support roles and were used to attack Iraqi ground forces with laser guided bombs. The Orions flew long endurance missions over the Persian Gulf tracking vessels, curbing smuggling and guarding against the threat posed by suicide boats.Al-Udeid Air Base

Map: US bases encircle Iran
Dozens of US and allied forces' military installations dot the region, from Oman, UAE and Kuwait to Turkey and Israel.
Last Modified: 01 May 2012 21:25

Doha, Qatar - US military bases continue to form a strategic envelope around Iran, although the American withdrawal from Iraq at the end of 2011 may have changed the regional balance somewhat towards Iran's favour. While US forces are scaling back in many parts of the globe due to budget cuts - and have begun a gradual depature from Afghanistan to be completed by 2014 - their international presence remains vast.
From an active-duty force of 1.4 million soldiers, the US has deployed some 350,000 troops to at least 130 foreign countries around the world. Some are at Cold War-era installations, but many are in or near combat zones in the Middle East. At more than 750 bases internationally, private contractors and third-country nationals also form a large percentage of the staff, in addition to military reservists and civilian employees of the Pentagon.
US military installations in the Middle East serve to keep an eye on Iran, but their regional footprint was significantly expanded well before Iran became the most publicly cited foreign "threat".
There were three reasons why the US sought a presence across the Middle East, says Mehran Kamrava, Director of the Center for International and Regional Studies at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in Qatar:
"Securing oil resources, guaranteeing the security of the state of Israel and combating threats to American interests" were the initial priorities of US military activity in the region prior to the first Gulf War, Kamrava says.
"Subsequently, direct military presence wasn't in the form of impositions, but the [security umbrella] was a conscious policy decision on the part of the Persian Gulf states."

Kamrava says US forces "have the ability to project force when needed, by intimidating and signalling to potential threats that the US can flex its muscles if necessary ... This is a combination of 'showing the flag' and practical, logistical issues such as the movement of troops, supplies and services".
"So, these bases are not necessarily because of Iran, but certainly Iran has given the US a compelling reason to further the number of bases," Kamrava told Al Jazeera. "But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Iran is encircled militarily."
Since tensions with Iran further escalated in early January, a map of assumed locations of bases in the vicinity of the Islamic Republic has been circulating across various social media platforms. But our map, above, reflects the latest information, either officially acknowledged by the US military, sourced in the media or described on military information sites such as Global Security.
In-depth coverage of a growing regional debate
Prior to the September 11, 2001, attacks in the US, most of the American military abroad was stationed in Europe and East Asia. But the number of Middle East deployments climbed dramatically during subsequent campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The wide range and function of the new facilities became expedient to the simultaneous fighting of two massive wars on either side of Iran.
A decade ago in 2002, Rear Admiral Craig R Quigley, senior spokesman at US Central Command (CENTCOM) in Tampa, Florida, said: "There is great value, for instance, in continuing to build airfields in a variety of locations on the perimeter of Afghanistan that, over time, can do a variety of functions, like combat operations, medical evacuation and delivering humanitarian assistance."
And while the US largely shifted its military focus to the region, it also moved most troops out of Saudi Arabia and into other Arab states of the Gulf, where US-friendly governments ironed out new security and basing arrangements.
Massive troop presence
According to new CENTCOM figures given to Al Jazeera on April 30, there are about 125,000 US troops in close proximity to Iran: 90,000 soldiers in/around Afghanistan on Operation Enduring Freedom; some 20,000 soldiers deployed ashore elsewhere in the Near East region; and a variable 15-20,000 afloat on naval vessels.
US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has said the US would have 40,000 troops in the Gulf following the withdrawal from Iraq. But the exact number, location and mission of these forces beyond Afghanistan is virtually impossible to determine.
"We are obliged to respect the stated desires of various host countries, who have asked that we not acknowledge details of any US presence on their sovereign soil," Oscar Seara, public affairs officer at CENTCOM, told Al Jazeera in an email.
"Partner-nation sensitivities limit what we are able to say about our military relationships," Seara said, when asked to confirm or deny information about the bases in the map above.

The troop tally released on December 31, 2011, by the Defense Manpower Data Center reported 57,479 "undistributed" troops around the world - on unknown assignment in unspecified locations. The organisation's data department declined to clarify whether a significant number of these troops are stationed in the Middle East.
In the Gulf, CENTCOM spokesman Seara only confirmed that the "Fifth Fleet is headquartered in Bahrain. For anything else, you’ll have to contact the Bahraini Ministry of Defence ... We can confirm Camps Arifjan, Buehring and Patriot. For anything else, you’ll have to contact the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence."
Despite such official efforts to remain inconspicuous in the post-9/11 era, US forces from the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines are boldly positioned in Oman and the UAE to the south of Iran, Turkey and Israel to the west, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan to the north, and Afghanistan and Pakistan in the east.
In addition, the US has close military partnerships with Georgia and Azerbaijan in the Caucasus, where US troops are involved in training missions, and where local facilities are used in moving supplies across the Caspian Sea towards Afghanistan.
When Pakistan closed NATO supply routes into Afghanistan, Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan became even more crucial for shipping non-lethal goods through the Northern Distrbution Network into the conflict zone to the south. Fears of a new "Great Game" emerged, as the US began more directly competing with Russia and China for regional influence.
While 2012 has clearly seen a US military buildup in the Gulf, especially an increase in the size of the standby combat force in Kuwait, the extent of troop movements is obscured by official secrecy surrounding the "globe-spanning American archipelago of bases".
The Pentagon has said it is now prioritising smaller, more nimble deployments to work in partnership with local troops, rather than emphasising the sheer number of "boots on the ground". And officials say an enhanced presence in the Gulf is meant to serve as a "quick-reaction and contingency force", not simply a prelude to war.
Floating bases
In addition to the sites in the map above, the US Navy has announced the summer 2012 launch of a floating mothership base likely to be deployed in the Gulf. The converted USS Ponce warship is slated to be used by the Navy on anti-piracy missions and for "containment" of Iran. While aircraft carriers must move regularly around the Gulf, the new ship will be able to remain in the same place for weeks.
"There are two aircraft carrier strike groups operating in the US Fifth Fleet AOR [Area Of Responsibility]," Lt Rebecca Rebarich, US Fifth Fleet spokeswoman, told Al Jazeera in an email.
"Aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) is operating in the Arabian Sea, conducting missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom," Rebarich said. "Aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) is conducting maritime security operations in the Arabian Gulf."
"There are approximately 16,000 personnel at sea aboard more than 40 US Navy, Coast Guard and fleet auxiliary ships in the US Fifth Fleet AOR."

France also has a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, which was reported to be heading to the Gulf in February.
For its part, France in 2009 established Peace Camp, a naval air station in Abu Dhabi. While the base is officially not just directed towards Iran, the dominant power on the other side of the Gulf then responded with a statement rejecting "increased foreign military presence" in the region.
Although US installations in Turkey, Israel, Djibouti and Diego Garcia are not in the CENTCOM area of responsibility, they could also be used in the event of any conflict with Iran.
Besides the bases shown on the map above, there are additional US micro-bases, as well as sites belonging to other countries that are used by US troops but not acknowledged as bases, and covert installations that are suspected but not confirmed.
As explained by Chalmers Johnson, the US author who coined the term "empire of bases", the defence department's 2011 report (http://www.acq.osd.mil/ie/download/bsr/bsr2011baseline.pdf)omits espionage bases, as well as facilities located in warzones and other sensitive places.
US commandos are also deployed throughout the region as part of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM), which conducts clandestine activities with a combined force of Army Green Berets and Rangers, Navy SEALs, Air Force Commandos and Marine Corps Special Operations teams.
